James “JT” Moore
Title: Principal Engineer
Education: BS Aerospace Studies, American Military University
How did you get into space? I was a Crew Chief on C-17s while in the Air Force and realized that working outside in the elements wasn’t that fun. So I picked one of the highest level jobs that my ASVAB score would allow. My first job in space was a space operator flying DSP on SBIRS ground.
Favorite planet? Earth – it’s the only one that we can live on.
Hobbies outside of work? Spending time with the family, farming (donkeys, dairy goats, chickens), and riding one of my Harleys
Why did you choose SSI? I knew a few people within SSI that I really enjoyed working with over the years and knew about its great culture and work environment. And I couldn’t pass up the opportunity that was presented by them to come over.
Bio: I spent 10 years in the Air Force (four as a Crew Chief and six as a Space Operator). After getting out I moved to the DC area to do much of the same and within a few years transitioned to Integration and Test. Over the next 10 years, both in the Dulles and Gilbert area, I managed over 15 I&T efforts. During this time, I got married to a truly wonderful woman and have had three excellent kids. I started at SSI just over a year ago and look forward to all that this new chapter will bring.
