Ryan Bertucci

Title:

Principal Engineer

Education:
B.A. in International Relations from the American Military University

M.S. of Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University.

How did you get into the job you have now?
I first fell into my specific career when I was Enlisted in the Air Force and had orders to PCS from Yongsan Garrison in Korea to the 1st OSS at Langley AFB in Virginia. My orders were switched at the last moment, and instead of going to the 1st OSS working with F-22s, I went to the Air Force Targeting Center, now known at the 363rd ISRW. That switch in assignment sent me on a targeting-focused career path that has now landed me at SSI conducting targeting assessments in support of the Space and Security Defense Program.

Favorite planet?
Kepler-186F. It’s an Earth-like planet that orbits in its star’s habitable zone. Who knows, maybe there’s even a Kepler-186F-version of SSI!

Hobbies outside of work?
All of my hobbies center around my family, including paddle boarding, hiking, snowboarding, and helping my daughter with her nightly homework.

Why did you choose SSI?
I joined SSI coming out of about 16 years of government service, between Active Duty and Civil Service. SSI was the best landing spot for me as SSI provided a way for me to continue doing mission-critical work for the Space Enterprise, as well as providing a much better work-life balance than I was accustomed to as a former government employee.
